
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The College Football Playoff selection committee announced Tuesday night it considers Ohio State football’s performance so far, relative to its schedule, to be the best in the country. For the Buckeyes, who missed out on the playoffs two years in a row, that return to national prominence would understandably be cause for celebration — if only a brief one. The committee looked at LSU’s marquee wins, Alabama’s on-brand dominance, Clemson’s winning streak reaching 22 and Penn State’s steady climb and said Ohio State’s overall excellence is the gold standard so far.
