Ohio State can’t match Clemson’s College Football Playoff experience. Will it matter in the Fiesta Bowl?


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football enters the College Football Playoff having played three of the nation’s top 15 teams in consecutive weeks. Whether counting each of the past three Big Ten championship games or the annual series with Michigan or other Big Ten and non-conference games with national attention, the Buckeyes can fairly say they have big-game experience. Hardly any of them, however, participated in Ohio State’s last College Football Playoff experience — a 31-0 loss to Clemson in the 2016 semifinals. Meanwhile, Fiesta Bowl opponent Clemson is the defending national champion playing in its fifth consecutive CFP semifinals as a program.
