
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day learned Tuesday he is in the running for another national award as the Football Writers Association of America included him among nine finalists for Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year. Day, in his first season as head coach, has led the Buckeyes to a 13-0 record and a third consecutive Big Ten championship. He is also a finalist for George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year. Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, coach of OSU’s upcoming Fiesta Bowl opponent in the College Football Playoff semifinals, is also a finalist. Others include Appalachian State’s Eliah Drinkwitz, SMU’s Sonny Dykes, Minnesota’s P.J. Fleck, Boise State’s Bryan Harsin, Memphis’ Mike Norvell, LSU’s Ed Orgeron and Baylor’s Matt Rhule.
