
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Players with Ohio State football ties dominated the voting for the Associated Press Player of the Year. LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was the landslide winner, claiming 51 of 54 first-place votes. Burrow, who transferred to LSU in 2008, led the Tigers to the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff and is considered the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday. Current Buckeyes defensive end Chase Young received the other three first-place votes and finished second, and quarterback Justin Fields finished third. The four Heisman Trophy finalists finished first through fourth in this voting as well: Burrow (159 points), Young (69), Fields (43) and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts (33).
