
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Chase Young’s recognition as the best defensive player in college football is reaching near-unanimous status. The Ohio State defensive end was named the Chuck Bednarik Award winner at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards in Atlanta. He is the first Buckeye to win the award, which has been handed out since 1995. Young is also a candidate for the Maxwell Award as national player of the year. Both awards are determined by a vote of head coaches, Maxwell Football Club members and media members.
