Reports: Boston College finalizing deal with Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley

USA TODAY Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is set to be the next head coach at Boston College, according to media reports published late Friday. Hafley was one of five finalists for the Broyles Award, given to the nation’s top assistant coach, and was instrumental in the Buckeyes’ defensive turnaround this fall along with Greg Mattison, another co-coordinator. After allowing a school-record 25.5 points per game in 2018, prompting first-year coach Ryan Day to hire Hafley and Mattison, they gave up 12.5 points per game this season and ranked No. 2 in the nation in total defense.
