Joe Burrow’s Heisman speech leads to over $300,000 in donations non-profit in Southeast Ohio: Buckeye Breakfast


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Joe Burrow became just the second player in LSU history to win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night. In his acceptance speech, the former Buckeye made sure to acknowledge him hometown of Athens, Ohio. He highlighted the low-income families in his community and how many of the children in the area who go hungry because of it. “Coming from Southeast Ohio, it’s a very impoverished area and the poverty rate is almost two times the national average,” Burrow said. “There’s so many people there that don’t have a lot. And I’m up here for all those kids in Athens and Athens County that go home to not a lot of food on the table, hungry after school.
