Ohio State football commit Clark Phillips III, 4-star CB, flips to Utah: Buckeyes recruiting


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football was able to sign 24 of its 26 commits on the first day of the early signing period, but could not hold on to Clark Phillips III of La Habra (Calif.). Phillips III announced during his signing ceremony that he has decided to flip to Utah. This is a result of co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley — who landed a commitment from Phillips III in June — being hired as the next head coach of Boston College. The four-star recruit is rated as the No. 47 overall player and No. 5 cornerback in the class. With his departure, the only player in the Buckeyes’ class who has not signed is athlete Cameron Martinez of Muskegon (Mich.), who has elected to wait until February to sign.
