Ohio State football’s Ryan Day officially turns quarterback room vision over to Corey Dennis


COLUMBUS, Ohio — A long-expected move became official Friday when Ohio State football announced the promotion of Corey Dennis to quarterbacks coach. Dennis spent the past five seasons in the Buckeyes’ program, most recently as senior quality control coach on offense. With the move, coach Ryan Day chose familiarity over experience, and an up-and-coming coaching prospect over more veteran options. As a former New Hampshire quarterback and position coach himself, Day maintains a close working relationship with his quarterbacks, and that was not expected to change regardless of who he hired. Yet the coming transition from Justin Fields to either CJ Stroud or Jack Miller after 2020 looms as a potentially significant juncture in Day’s tenure.
