Essentials can be difficult to find these days, not only in grocery stores, but also on NFL rosters. Seven linebackers are on the Browns roster. Four of them — Tae Davis, Jerome Grace, Willie Harvey, and Montrel Meander — combined for one start and seven tackles from scrimmage last season. Mack Wilson started 14 games at weak side linebacker as a rookie and finished second on the Browns with 81 tackles. Fellow 2019 draft pick Sione Takitaki made one start as a rookie and had 15 tackles. That leaves fifth-year player B.J. Goodson, signed in free agency after playing 2019 with the Packers, as the Browns’ most experienced linebacker and he is here for only one season.
