NCAA vote on Wednesday could determine when Ohio State football players return to facilities


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coaches began trickling back to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center earlier this week. Could Buckeye players also soon learn when they can again return to OSU’s facilities? The NCAA’s Division I Council will vote Wednesday on whether to extend the moratorium on team activities, which currently runs through May 31. Sports Illustrated reported Friday that a vote to extend the complete shutdown was unlikely. A simple majority of the 40-person panel will decide the next step. If the moratorium lifts, conferences and schools could set their own dates for the resumption of some or all activities. The Big Ten set its own moratorium on team activities through June 1. Bucknuts reported Tuesday night that Ohio State set a June 8 date for players to return to campus. That could mean OSU anticipates some loosening of the restrictions set by those governing bodies.
