Ohio State football’s C.J. Saunders again used his captain’s voice at a crucial moment: Buckeye Take


COLUMBUS, Ohio — A knee injury Ohio State football’s C.J. Saunders couldn’t shake limited his biggest 2019 contribution to a few minutes in Indianapolis last December. The former walk-on turned scholarship receiver turned captain never saw the field in 2019. But when the Buckeyes needed him, down at halftime to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game, Saunders stepped up with inspirational words that set the tone for a second-half comeback. Saunders was not the only Buckeye talking this week about the racial divisions still obvious in this country following the killing of a black man, George Floyd, by Minneapolis police last week. He was one of 16 Ohio State players who, along with coach Ryan Day, put out a video message denouncing racism.
