Former Ohio State basketball player Alonzo Gaffney transfers to junior college Northwest Florida


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State basketball player Alonzo Gaffney has transferred to junior college Northwest Florida. “It’s a great feeling to join a program like Northwest Florida and I can’t wait to start the process of preparing for the season,” Gaffney said in a press release. “I have a great a connection with Coach (Butch) Pierre. The environment at NWF is great, it just felt like the right fit.” The 6-foot-9, 198-pound Gaffney saw action in eight Big Ten games — 17 total — scoring two points for the Buckeyes. Once a four-star recruit from Cleveland while attending Garfield Heights High School, Gaffney was the first player to join Ohio State’s 2019 recruiting class that was 15th in the country and atop the Big Ten.
