Over the last two seasons, Ohio State has gotten pretty familiar with sending a player to New York City for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins was a finalist for the Heisman in 2018 and both quarterback Justin Fields and defensive end Chase Young were among the top vote-getters for the trophy last year. None of those three players won. But over the course of the Buckeyes’ long football-playing history, the Scarlet and Gray do have seven winners, six individuals, who have taken home the Heisman Trophy. Beginning with quarterback/halfback Les Horvath in 1944 up until the team’s most recent recipient, quarterback Troy Smith, in 2006, the Scarlet and Gray are tied for the most Heisman winners.
