
COLUMBUS, Ohio — California defensive back and Ohio State football target Jamier Johnson of (Pasadena) John Muir High School has committed to Texas. Rated as the No. 236 player and No. 17 cornerback in the 2021 recruiting class, the four-star recruit is the 14th member of the Longhorns’ class, which ranks 10th in the country and first in the Big 12. Texas was one of seven schools Johnson chose from. That list included the Buckeyes, Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon and USC. Losing out on Johnson along with the nation’s top cornerback in Tony Grimes means that Ohio State’s search to add another 2021 defensive back continues after Alabama’s flip of Ohio native Devonta Smith. Despite that, the Buckeyes’ 18 commits remain the No. 1 class in the country. Should that hold through Signing Day, it will be the first time in the modern era that OSU claims that spot.…
