The Big Ten is known historically for its tough defenses, although in recent years a number of its schools have upped the ante on offense and gone with spread systems instead of traditional power schemes. Ohio State in particular has churned out NFL prospects on defense, as the Buckeyes had another three players drafted in the first round this year in Chase Young, Jeff Okudah and Damon Arnette. Last season four of the top 10 teams nationally in scoring defense came from the Big Ten — the SEC was next up with two among that group. While the league loses a fair amount of talent, it should still be tough with stars like Penn State’s Micah Parsons and Ohio State’s Shaun Wade.
