Sometimes those blessed with exceptional skills do not live to their potential. Most of the time, a player simply does not develop their game enough to excel. Other instances often have to do with injuries, which prevent them from continuing their careers. Unfortunately, however, several players end up embroiled in self-destructive legal troubles. That is the case for a former Ohio State basketball standout, who was sentenced to jail time this week. Greg Simpson, who starred for the Buckeyes and West Virginia during the 1990’s, received a 30-day jail sentence for his part in providing falsified drivers’ education certificates to several students. Simpson pleaded guilty to a third-degree charge of tampering with a record, while a second tampering charge was dismissed because of a deal the defense worked out with the prosecution team.
