Michigan State football set to start extended summer workouts amid increasing uncertainty


Four months after spring practice was canceled and players and coaches were sent home amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Michigan State football team will be back at work on Monday. The Spartans are scheduled to start the first phase of an extended summer schedule the NCAA approved in June. They will do so amid tremendous uncertainty, preparing for a 2020 season that may not even happen. The Big Ten on Thursday announced it was planning on moving to a conference-only schedule this year – if games are played at all – with details to be released later. Michigan State’s 2020 schedule is now listed as TBA on the university’s website. There’s only so much the Spartans can control and that starts with what’s immediately ahead as the next step in an offseason of significant change.
