Ohio State resuming voluntary workouts after positive COVID-19 tests forced ‘pause’ last week


COLUMBUS, Ohio — The interruption to Ohio State football’s voluntary preseason workouts lasted less than one week. The athletic department announced Tuesday that all eligible athletes can resume voluntary workouts following the latest round of COVID-19 testing. A round of testing on July 7 resulted in multiple positives, prompting OSU to temporarily pause workouts. In keeping with previous policy, OSU disclosed nothing about the results of the new round of tests. Athletes will resume workouts on Wednesday. An OSU news release said athletes from the seven sports currently eligible to work out were tested on Monday and the results came back Tuesday. That does not include those athletes who tested positive last week, who were to isolate for 14 days.
