Former Ohio State football defensive lineman Jashon Cornell signs with Detroit Lions


DETROIT — Jashon Cornell became the third member of Ohio State football’s 2020 draft class to officially join the Detroit Lions on Saturday when he signed a four-year contract. Cornell, the Lions’ seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, followed earlier signings by first-round cornerback Jeff Okudah and fourth-round offensive lineman Jonah Jackson. The 6-3, 280-pound Cornell played 3-technique for the Buckeyes. He collected 30 tackles (6.5 for loss) with four sacks, one quarterback hurry and one forced fumble in 2019. Cornell joins a Lions defensive tackle group that also includes veterans Nick Williams and Danny Shelton and third-year player Da’Shawn Hand.
