Ohio State football can open preseason camp on Thursday


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football can begin preseason camp on Thursday, due to playing an early season opener on Sept. 3 at Illinois. Along with announcing its new 2020 schedule, the Big Ten approved the start of preseason camps. Last week, Commissioner Kevin Warren said the league was still evaluating whether testing protocols were sufficient to allow those practices to safely begin. Per the NCAA’s preseason timeline, teams who open the season on Sept. 5 can begin camp on Friday. Originally, that would have included Ohio State. But the Buckeyes and Illinois now open on a Thursday night, so they will be allowed to open camp early. Indiana and Wisconsin, who play on Friday, Sept. 4, can also open camp early.
