Ohio State football’s Ryan Day, after spring running back ‘crisis,’ praises Master Teague’s and Trey Sermon’s work ethic


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football ended its abbreviated spring practices with only one healthy scholarship running back on the roster. Buckeyes coach Ryan Day declined to give any updates about who did or did not participate in Thursday’s opening day of preseason camp. However, he did praise Master Teague’s work ethic coming back from an Achilles injury and how Trey Sermon stepped into the program as a grad transfer. Teague entered the spring as the favorite to succeed 2,000-yard rusher J.K. Dobbins as the lead running back in 2020. Following the first practice, Day made note of the lack of depth in that room, saying OSU sat one injury away from “a crisis.” Turns out that crisis had already happened, as Teague suffered a spring-ending Achilles injury that day.
