
COLUMBUS, Ohio — I put Nathan Baird on the stand on Wednesday’s Buckeye Talk podcast. Somebody had to attempt to defend the move of The Game to Oct. 24, so Nathan took up the cause, even if he didn’t want to. The Big Ten appears to have split the difference in an odd way with its scheduling decision about its most intense rivalry, and most vital TV property, in the midst of a pandemic. Nathan thought The Game should have been moved to the first week of the season to give it the greatest chance to be played. If 2020 was a one-game season, at least it would be Ohio State vs. Michigan. I thought it should have stayed at the end of the regular season, preserving the tradition that dates back 10 decades.
