
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day said Thursday he believed all of his players deserved the chance to have their voices heard, as requested in the Big Ten United letter purportedly signed by over 1,000 players earlier this week. On Friday, team captains Tuf Borland, Wyatt Davis, Josh Myers and others used their social media accounts to make that statement. All shared a document signed by “the Ohio State University student athletes” which defended the athletic program’s protocols during the coronavirus pandemic and pushed back against the idea of athlete exploitation. “We believe our institution is providing the proper structure and organization for safety,” the letter read. “Here at Ohio State, we #setthestandard for what college athletics should look like after COVID-19.” The letter said the athletes appreciate the intentions of the Big Ten United letter, which called for increased COVID-19 protections and regulations across the league.…
