After Big Ten cancels football, Ohio State fans brace for a season that could go on without the Buckeyes


COLUMBUS, Ohio — A few minutes before 3 p.m. Tuesday, Ohio State football still had a season, and the puck had not yet dropped on the Columbus Blue Jackets’ playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The next six hours left a sick feeling in the city — and one that could linger for a bit. The Blue Jackets go back on the ice Thursday to try to avenge their five-overtime series opening loss. The Buckeyes and their fans, on the other hand, are on indefinite hiatus. The Big Ten called off 2020 football and all other fall sports, ostensibly to try to make them work in the spring when the coronavirus pandemic has hopefully weakened. Adding insult to an already injurious day for the spirits of so many Buckeye fans? By the end of the night, most of the nation’s other Power 5 conferences has resolved to push ahead…
