It was a historic announcement just before 3 p.m. Eastern today when the Big Ten acted to cancel all of its fall sports seasons, including football. Conference commissioner Kevin Warren made the announcement, noting there could be a chance to play football in the spring. As this story has unfolded in recent days, there was speculation that Ohio State could act to play games this fall outside the Big Ten framework. OSU athletic director Gene Smith said in the school’s statement that they had hoped the season would be delayed. As of now, however, there has been nothing to suggest Ohio State will pursue games this fall. Warren, speaking on Big Ten Network, did not answer the question when asked by host Dave Revsine whether the vote to cancel the fall season was unanimous.
