
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Maybe the polls could decide. And maybe Ohio State could make a case. That’s a component of the Ryan Day January Plan that make the idea of a Big Ten football season in January more temping than a spring season — the chase for some kind of title. Also, the season would be more connected to the fall, and it would have a stronger chance of NFL-bound Big Ten stars sticking around. It’s far from a certainty, but Justin Fields playing for the Buckeyes in January is far more possible than Fields playing for the Buckeyes in March and April.
