Ohio State football players and their families continue to fight for a fall 2020 season nearly one week after the Big Ten Conference said it could not move forward due to the coronavirus pandemic. It may be too late for their efforts to reverse the league’s decision. So in order to add perspective on exactly what COVID-19 has cost college football in 2020, we at Buckeye Talk held the same season prediction episode we would have under normal circumstances. Doug Lesmerises, Stephen Means and I predicted our top four seeds for the College Football Playoff, our national championship matchup and our eventual champion. We asked our Buckeye Talk text subscribers to do the same. Everyone was instructed to assume all teams are eligible and no individual players had made COVID-19 related opt-out decisions.
