COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields has not given up on playing football this fall, starting an online petition approaching 300,000 signatures and publicizing his efforts on national media. If that does not work, the Buckeyes’ returning Heisman Trophy finalist has a big decision to make. Ohio State coach Ryan Day proposed a season starting in January to better allow top NFL Draft prospects such as Fields to participate without compromising their professional opportunities.
