Ohio State University is celebrating 150 years in education this year, and The Dispatch is marking the university’s milestone with a series of stories that highlight its history and community over the years. Eric Stockman has always been a Buckeye at heart. No matter that he grew up in Bluffton, a village in Allen and Hancock counties about 100 miles northwest of Columbus where Ohio State home football games play out on fall Saturdays. Stockman still recalls making the nearly four-hour round trip once or twice a year with his dad to catch a raucous game in Ohio Stadium. And of course, even when he and his dad didn’t have tickets, they’d still watch their team on television.
