The six deaths announced Monday afternoon pushed the state’s death toll to 5,005. Public health experts also have cautioned that any count of the coronavirus dead will be lower than the actual number of fatalities as it’s likely people have died with the virus but were not tested for it or treated for COVID-19, the illness that develops from infection of the coronavirus.
