COLUMBUS, Ohio — Once Ohio State football and Nebraska kick off in Saturday’s season opener, they again become Big Ten adversaries. Those programs spent much of the past few months as committed allies, leading the charge to ensure Saturday’s game could even be played despite the coronavirus pandemic. Both Ohio State and Nebraska were among the three schools (with Iowa) who voted against the original cancellation of fall sports. Players, parents, coaches and administrators from those two schools were among the most vocal and aggressive critics of the Big Ten until the season, pushing for reinstatement. Ohio State coach Ryan Day knew Nebraska coach Scott Frost from his time on Chip Kelly’s staff at Oregon. Their relationship grew over the offseason, as did the camaraderie between the programs.
