COLUMBUS, Ohio — It was no coincidence that Ohio State football removed the ceremonial black strip from freshman quarterbacks C.J. Stroud and Jack Miller on the same day. The Buckeyes went so far as to make the announcements at almost the same instant on Twitter. Ryan Day has taken care not to put one of the incoming quarterbacks ahead of the other to begin the season. Day said Thursday the situation might be different if the quarterbacks had been able to work through a full spring and normal preseason. Since the coronavirus pandemic shut down spring practices after one week and interrupted the preseason routine, significant growth remains.
