The Ohio State football players wanted to do something different this year. Buckeye head coach Ryan Day announced during fall camp that the Scarlet and Gray would have a message on their helmets in order to give the players a voice during games regarding social justice. “(Assistant athletic director of player development) Ryan Stamper’s met with our leadership committee and we are talking about that right now, about putting something on the back of our helmets,” Day said earlier this month. “We’re going to probably make the final decision on that here by the end of the week.” Ohio State decided to put the message “EQUALITY” on their helmets in bold letters.
