Nebraska opens its college football season Saturday at Ohio State, and the Cornhuskers host Penn State in three weeks. Yep, I know what you’re thinking. The Big Ten stuck it to Nebraska. The Huskers raised the biggest stink over the Big Ten deciding to delay the season until the spring, and when enough voices, notably Ohio State’s, joined the chorus, the Big Ten relented. An eight-game conference schedule begins this weekend. You wanted college football, Nebraska? You’ve got college football. The revamped Big Ten schedule stuck the Huskers with the killer games of Ohio State and Penn State in cross-division play. In the Big Ten’s defense, the Cornhuskers originally were scheduled to play Ohio State and Penn State in interdivision games. But Nebraska also was scheduled to play Rutgers.
