Ohio State Buckeyes have already soothed Week 1 concerns

They might not always stay in it, but some college football teams simply have a gear that merely good college football teams can’t shift into. Several times Saturday night, Ohio State flashed that gear. Penn State never had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead against Ohio State after the first four minutes of the 38-25 win in Happy Valley. In building a 21-6 lead in the first half, the Buckeyes outgained Penn State by a total of 280-75. Ohio State started the game with an electric, three-play, 75-yard scoring drive. For a moment, it looked like the Buckeyes would have an easy blowout of the Nittany Lions. But after that, Penn State largely forced Ohio State to be patient, denying the home run play.
