Despite ‘discouraging’ cancellation, Ohio State football moves forward with preparations for Indiana


COLUMBUS, Ohio — When a coronavirus outbreak hit the Wisconsin football program last month, Ohio State coach Ryan Day empathized with the Badger opponents forced into idle Saturdays. Perhaps that somewhat prepared Day emotionally for Wednesday’s news that the Buckeyes will be watching football instead of playing on Saturday. Maryland decided it could not play due to its own COVID-19 outbreak. Day previously wondered if his continued message of COVID-19 diligence for his own team would wear his players out. Instead, the Buckeyes receive a new reminder each week as to the fragility of the season. In addition to Wisconsin’s two cancellations, the SEC has postponed four of its seven games this weekend due to coronavirus issues in some programs.
