
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Three observations from No. 3 Ohio State football’s 42-35 victory over No. 9 Indiana on Saturday. 1. Julian Fleming came to Ohio State as the highest-ranked member of the heralded four-man freshman receiver group. Halfway through his freshman season the entirety of his production could be summed up by two plays. One pass he caught for 13 yards against the Nebraska. Another pass he dropped, wide open in the middle of the field against Rutgers. The cancellation of the Maryland game gave Fleming an extra week to think about that mistake. Saturday against Indiana, the most notable pass that came anywhere near him was Justin Field’s ill-advised blind heave to the middle of the field that Jamar Johnson intercepted about five minutes into the third quarter.
