Where can Ohio State football’s secondary find answers after Indiana threw for almost 500 yards?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — When Ohio State football shut down Indiana’s running game Saturday, the Buckeyes seemed well-positioned to feast on a one-dimensional opponent. Instead, the Hoosiers took that one dimension and rode it into hyperspace. Quarterback Michael Penix threw for 491 yard thanks to six completions of 33 yards or more. The rally fell short, and No. 3 Ohio State held on for a 42-35 victory over No. 9 Indiana. The lapses at the back end of the Buckeye defense, however, magnified lingering concerns from the second half of the victory over Rutgers two weeks earlier. Some of the big plays resulted from personnel breakdowns. Problem is, the Buckeyes do not have an abundance of proven options available to move up into those spots.
