Gophers men extend perfect hockey start with win over Ohio State

No. 8 Minnesota continued its blistering start to the season, dominating No. 10 Ohio State in a 4-1 victory at the 3M Arena at Mariucci on Monday. The Gophers outpaced the Buckeyes, finishing with a 27-18 shots-on-goal advantage. Thirteen of Minnesota’s shots came in the first period, when the Gophers attack remained in the Ohio State zone for the majority of the first 20 minutes of play. Two of Minnesota’s first-period shots found the back of the net, the first coming just over 11 minutes into the contest when sophomore defenseman Ryan Johnson skated past a Buckeyes defender and hit freshman Brock Faber across the ice. Faber fired a shot past Ohio State goalie Tommy Nappier for the early 1-0 lead.
