Starting in his fourth game in six nights, Minnesota goalie Jack LaFontaine blanked the No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes in a 2-0 victory on Tuesday night at 3M Arena at Mariucci. LaFontaine – who head coach Bob Motzko called a “horse” the night previous – stopped all 22 Buckeyes attempts to finish with a perfect save percentage and earn his first collegiate shutout. “I was really impressed,” Motzko said. “If we would have been having a private conversation a few weeks ago, there’s no way would I have thought we were going to play Jack all four games… When you’re in a groove like that as a goaltender, you let him run with it.” To go along with the shutout, Minnesota also saw some early scoring, finding itself on the scoreboard less than two minutes into the game thanks to a slip-up by Ohio State goalie Tommy Nappier.
