
COLUMBUS, Ohio — One of Kerry Coombs’ last gifts to Ohio State football before heading to the NFL for two years was six defensive back commitments in a No. 2-rated 2017 recruiting class. At the top of that group sat Jeff Okudah and Shaun Wade as the country’s top two cornerbacks. Three years later, one was the No. 3 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, while the other was a preseason All-American and expected to be a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Okudah only got to play for Coombs for one season of his career, while Wade is closing out his career with a second season.
