Big Ten bails out Ohio State with title game rule change


Ohio State can breathe easy. The Big Ten is expected to change its tiebreaker rules to allow the Buckeyes to play in next weekend’s conference championship game, according to Yahoo Sports. The league will no longer require title game participants to have played a minimum of six games this season. Ohio State will formally clinch the East Division championship when the decision is finalized by a vote — presumably by the conference’s presidents and chancellors — and will play West champion Northwestern on Dec. 19 in Indianapolis. The Buckeyes, who are 5-0 and ranked No. 4 in the current College Football Playoff rankings, were in danger of being ineligible for the conference title after Michigan canceled this weekend’s rivalry game due to COVID-19 issues.
