Did Big Ten slip Ohio State into Indy because it’s the league’s best team? Or because it’s most powerful? | Jones

I have no doubt that Ohio State’s football team is the best in the Big Ten. Nor do I have an issue necessarily with the Buckeyes being seated as the East division champions in the Big Ten, headed for the championship game in Indianapolis having played only five games. After all, they beat the clear second-best team, Indiana. It was about as decisive as a 7-point win can get, even if the Hoosiers did make a game of it after falling behind by four touchdowns. And otherwise, Ohio State has not been challenged. It’s not a question of whether the Buckeyes are deserving of a berth in Indy. It’s the way they got there – the rules being rewritten on the fly to facilitate them. They aren’t getting a shot in Indy because they deserve it.
