AP Top 25 ballot breakdown: Idle Ohio State catches another break with LSU’s upset of Florida


Life is good if you’re a Buckeye right now. Ohio State punched its ticket to the Big Ten Championship Game midweek when the conference provided a convenient bailout and tore up its six-game minimum rule. And now Ryan Day’s team has had its path back to the College Football Playoff cleared significantly after LSU delivered the favor-to-be-determined-later for getting Joe Burrow and upset Florida on Saturday night in Gainesville. It’s a five-horse race for four CFP spots now — at most. Alabama is in no matter what happens in the SEC title game. Clemson is in as long as it gets its win back against Notre Dame in the ACC title game, and the Fighting Irish should be good as long as they don’t get embarrassed by the Tigers.
