
COLUMBUS, Ohio — When Ohio State running back Mike Weber fumbled with just under five minutes to play in the third quarter of the Big Ten Championship Game two years ago, Northwestern had a real chance. Down only 24-21, the Wildcats took over on their 39-yard line, knowing 40 yards of offense would put them in range of a tying field goal with about a quarter to play. But Chase Young sacked Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorson on second down, the Wildcats were forced to punt after coming up short on third down, Ohio State scored touchdowns on three of its final four possessions, and that was it. What was a one-score game into the final 11 minutes of the game finished as a 45-24 Ohio State win, as Dwayne Haskins threw for 499 yards and five touchdowns.
