7:00 AM ET IT WAS THE middle of September, and Shaun Wade sat at his kitchen table in Jacksonville, Florida, in the wrong place at the wrong time. Again. He wasn’t at Ohio State, for one. Some nine months earlier, in December, Wade had landed himself in a different wrong place, at another wrong time. As the clock ticked down in the first half of Ohio State’s semifinal playoff game against Clemson, with less than five minutes to go, Wade had charged. He had the Tigers’ golden quarterback, Trevor Lawrence — he of the abundant, flowing blond locks — in his sights, and he launched. Helmet-first.
