
INDIANAPOLIS — Trey Sermon has been Ohio State football’s most reliable weapon in the Big Ten Championship Game. The graduate transfer from Oklahoma is up to 231 yards and a score on 18 carries which broke the game’s record previously held by Ezekiel Elliott. The former Buckeye ran for 220 yards in Ohio State’s 59-0 win over Wisconsin in 2014 en route to a national championship in the inaugural College Football Playoff. Elliott’s record game was highlighted by an 81-yard touchdown run while Sermon’s best run was for 65 yards. Sermon has steadily improved for the Buckeyes this season and has surpassed the 100-yard mark for the past two games. He’s run for 343 yards and two touchdowns in his last 28 carries.
