COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s head coach Ryan Day assures that Justin Fields’ sprained right thumb that he suffered during the Big Ten Championship won’t hinder a team trying to win a national championship. Fields suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Buckeyes 22-10 win over Northwestern when he scrambled on a second-and-11 play and hit on the sideline. After the game, he stated that injury was “killing” him, admitting that it played a role in why he had the most inefficient game of his college football career. He completed just 12 of 27 passes for 114 and two interceptions while failing to throw a touchdown pass.
