COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football has scheduled its second non-conference opponent for the 2024 season as it will host Southern Miss, according to FBSchedules.com. This will be the first meeting between the two programs in what will serve as the season opener for the Buckeyes on Aug. 31, 2024. It will also be the first game Ohio State has played against any team from Mississippi. Southern Miss will receive a $1.9 million guarantee for the game. The Golden Eagles join Washington as Ohio State’s non-conference opponents for the season, with one open date for a home game still left on the schedule. The Buckeyes will travel to Seattle the following week for a rematch of the 2018 Rose Bowl against the Huskies.
